The Prestage Groups tab displays the prestage groups for the track plan. A prestage group consists of prestage areas that are defined separately as regular yard blocks and then assigned to tracks.

You can add stack blocks of any type to a rail prestage group, but when you are finished configuring prestage blocks, their boundaries must be inside the boundaries of the track plan. You can create transfer zone associations between track plans and those prestage blocks before you position them inside the track plan. If you forget to create the transfer zone associations using the Transfer Zone Association form (on page 1), N4 does this automatically before it generates the XPS yard file (yard.nyd) as long as you have added them to a rail prestage group in the Track Plan form (on page 1).

Every prestage group with a prestage location needs a rail track. N4 validates this information and writes an error message to the Messages tab (on page 1) in the Validate Yard Model form (on page 1) if it encounters any prestage groups with prestage locations but no rail track. N4 supports a maximum of 20 prestage locations per prestage group.

You can add, edit, or delete prestage groups on this tab. In addition, you can use the Actions menu to Recover Obsolete (or deleted) prestage groups.
